Muscle and joint problems
We have special expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound, with ultrasound-guided injections into joints, bursae and tendons. Ken sees patients with these problems from the whole practice, as needed by the other doctors.
Stallbakken Legesenter is a general practice in Rud, Rælingen municipality. We are four family doctors (GPs – called fastlege in Norway) and a junior doctor in training (LIS1), providing general practice for the patients on our lists.
Ken Le Van, Kathrine Hovland and Torunn Larsgaard Austlid each have a list of 1,350 patients, and Andrea Kvam has a list of 900 patients. Your family doctor knows you and your history, and follows you up over time – from the youngest children to the oldest.
Our doctors use ultrasound during the examination when it is useful. Ultrasound is a very valuable tool for a family doctor: it helps us assess your condition and decide whether you need treatment straight away, or whether we need to find out more about the cause of your pain, problems or symptoms.
Ultrasound is a supplement to an ordinary examination, not a replacement. We don't always find the answer there and then, but ultrasound gives us much more to go on.
We have particular expertise in ultrasound and also train other doctors. Ken Le Van chairs the Norwegian Association for Ultrasound in General Practice (FUA) and has taught GPs across Norway for many years.

On Thursdays Ken Le Van works half a day with Tomas Skei, specialist in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, at Lillestrøm Sports Injury Clinic (LISK). This gives patients with musculoskeletal problems faster examination, treatment and rehabilitation.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is now widely used by doctors in Norway, including at our practice. How much each doctor uses AI varies.
AI can listen to the consultation and draft the medical record note, and it helps us with much of the paperwork.
Everything is checked by the doctor. The doctor is responsible for everything that is written, sent and explained – also when AI has helped.
We know some people are not comfortable with AI listening to the consultation. You can always say no to AI – just tell your doctor.
We only use approved solutions and quality-assure how we use them.
Skip the phone queue!
Booking appointments, renewing prescriptions and sending an e-contact are free on helsenorge.no. If you need the doctor's assessment, you can send an e-consultation (160 / 212 kr) instead of coming to an ordinary appointment.
Short questions for the medical secretary: appointments, patient transport and other practical matters.
Medical questions for the doctor when you don't need to come in. You can attach photos and documents. Allow up to 5 working days for an answer.
Messages may be answered before 08:00, after 16:00 or at weekends, in which case the patient fee is higher. By using the service you agree to this.
Answers from your doctor, including blood test results, come as a digital message on helsenorge.no. You get a text message when it has arrived.
Log in to helsenorge.no with BankID to read it.
You can use the services for yourself, for others who have given you power of attorney, and for your own children under 16. Switch to the right person before sending: to book for your child, send the message from the child's profile.
Can't find e-consultation? Go to «Profil og innstillinger – Bruk og tilganger – Personverninnstillinger» and choose «full».
After your appointment you receive a text message with a payment link: card, Vipps or invoice. If you don't pay within 48 hours, an invoice is sent automatically with a 70 kr fee.
After 48 hours we cannot change anything. Questions about the invoice should then go to PayEx.
Send an e-contact after 15:00 the day before and describe the problem. We handle these requests between 08:00 and 09:00. You can also call when the phone opens at 09:00.
Life-threatening illness or injury: call 113. Outside opening hours: the out-of-hours clinic (legevakt) 116 117.
The practice is affiliated with the University of Oslo and takes medical students, mainly with university lecturer Ken Le Van.
We always have a junior doctor in training (LIS1). LIS1 is the Norwegian internship: newly qualified doctors work one year in hospital and then six months in general practice, with close supervision. Torunn Larsgaard Austlid is the lead supervisor, but the LIS1 doctor rotates between us, so all our doctors take part in the supervision.
Ken supervises GPs in specialist training (ALIS), chairs the course committee of the Akershus Medical Association and teaches GPs ultrasound and artificial intelligence. Aleksander is a member of the course committee for Primærmedisinsk uke (PMU 2026), the national primary care conference, and leads courses in ultrasound in general practice. This is why they are sometimes away from the practice.
The practice also takes medical secretary students from time to time.
